Best practice: Why we need to get a handle on the Internet of Vulnerable Things (IoVT)

03 Mar 2022
Cloud Security Theatre 1
Emerging Tech

The Internet of Things promises to transform how the world works. This is very welcome, but far too many IoT technologies have prioritised innovation and speed over security. If companies are installing IoT sensors on their premises, in factories, in consumer’s homes or out in the wider world, the data these devices collect could easily be misused if intercepted by malicious actors. As technologists, we must discuss the issues around the Internet of Vulnerable Things today. In this session, speakers will explore:

• The scale of the IoVT issue today

• Remedial action for existing IoT networks

• Legal, privacy and contract challenges around the IoVT market

Speakers
Simon Newman, Head of Cyber and Business Services - Police Crime Prevention Initiatives
